This is the background for Icar, the free science fiction roleplaying game. It broadly describes the state of the human race in the 93rd millenia, the benevolent Imperium and the race of robots hell bent on killing absolutely everything.

This is the core rules for Icar, the free science fiction roleplaying game. The core rules are based on a D10 percentile system and are used for quick combat games, rather then epic simulations. Full colour images throughout.

It’s the year of the Pligg!!…or something like that…

Now that Bill Gates has officially informed us that we’re in the “digital decade” (thanks Bill), we can do what all digital decadians do best…erm…type? No, proliferate the fruit of our online loins across the vast space of the world wide wotsit. This is the year for the Game Crafters Guild to step outside the box, move the goalposts and generally do stuff we never dreamed of…except on that night we ate too much cheese…

This site is all about collaboration, doing stuff together and “the whole” making up something considerably bigger than the sum of the individual parts (which sounds somewhat demonic), so let’s get together and make something spiffy this year! Throw your shoes into the middle of the ring and join us in a resounding chorus of the Guild’s anthem (accompanied by the Guild’s special dance).

That’s only because we’ve been working on a brand new feature! Check it out! You can now submit your works via this handy form rather than laborously email it in.

It’s a work in progress and lots of little improvements are on the way. The major one will be the ability to edit your uploads in the same way you can edit your submitted collaborations.

With the dust settling from the event that is Gaelcon, now is the time to share your scenarios! :)

We’ve just added a powerful new feature.

You can now submit your collaboration requests via this handly form (you’ll need to be logged in to see it). Once submitted, it will quickly be approved by one of the admins.

But once published, you have full control over it. You can edit it and update it and even delete it! :)

We’ve just added a big new feature. So big it deserves it’s own news entry. We have added a Pligg section. We’re still putting a few finishing touches to it, but is functional and you can already log in and start working away.

What’s Pligg I hear you cry? The idea is simple. Users submit stories about Gaming and Roleplaying. Other users comment and vote on these stories. Once a story has enough votes it appears on our Pligg frontpage. If you use digg.com or reddit.com you’ll know exactly what this is. You can read more about it here. AFAIK, we’re the first to have this specifically for gaming and roleplaying!

A small word of caution: it’s not fully integrated with the rest of the site. Login/logout etc. is fine but look and feel will change to match the rest of the site. This will happen over the next week. For the time being, the direct link is: http://www.gamecraftersguild.com/p.

Oh, and we’re looking for a new word for it. Literally. See here on the forums!

Now, get pligging!

We’re still in the testing phase right now but please come in, look around and try stuff out. Everything is bright, shiny and new!

We have a forum, based on the rather cool Vanilla software. We also have a wiki powered by DokuWiki. All under the one login.

The download section is now totally revamped with tags, comments and even star ratings! If you got some work you want to share (or show off) to the Guild, please submit it! It doesn’t have to be just scenarios, it can be artwork, half-completed game systems or anything that may be useful or applicable to gaming, as long as it’s yours. If you want, you can just give us a link, if you don’t want us to host it and still get the benefits of association with other creators. If you offered something in the past, now is the time to deliever.

And from now on, you no longer need to come back to the website to keep up to date. We’ve gone RSS MAD. There are RSS feeds for everything: news, downloads and collaborations, latest discussions in the forums and latest changes on the wiki!. You can even grab feeds from specific categories, discussions and articles!

We know a lot Irish Gamers hang out on LiveJournal so now we’ve gone and got ourselves a LJ account (gcg_irl)! Add us as a friend and keep up to date that way too.

So, if you’ve got feedback, drop a comment here or on the forums. If you need help, you can leave a question on the wiki. I’m sure there is a few quirks and little bugs, but we hope you like it (and please tell us if you do!). :)
